Hi and welcome to episode 101 of The ERP Minute. I am your host, Rebekah McCabe.
Enhancements continue to play a pivotal role in vendors advancing their positions in the ERP space, with Certinia announcing the general availability of its Summer 2023 product release. The latest capabilities include automation and streamlining of resource management, as well as time-saving enhancements for accounting teams. This will be accomplished through embedded AI, the introduction of the Task Board component and Project Overview, improvements to the Scheduling Risk Dashboard, integrations with Google & Microsoft Outlook calendars, advanced work planner features, and more. Certinia continues to build on the “certainty” that is now baked into its brand, providing enhancements to take the guesswork out of key operational functions, further defining its role in the space.
Microsoft continues to also provide innovative enhancements to its key solutions. This week, Microsoft introduced Copilot in Dynamics 365 Field Service, bringing the power of next-generation AI to service professionals on the frontline to speed time to resolution. Part of this enhancement will include a new Dynamics 365 Field Service mobile experience for frontline technicians and a redesigned work order management experience. It is important for Microsoft and other large vendors to continue to invest in their FSM solutions to meet the needs of a growing industry, as well as provide state-of-the-art technology to assist customers in their growth.
Finally, Aptean followed the growth and enhancement trend, making two major acquisitions. First, Aptean announced its acquisition of Best Practice IT Solution GmbH, an enterprise resource software provider to manufacturers, including beverage manufacturers, located primarily in Germany. Then, Aptean announced its acquisition of trend SWM, an ERP software provider to manufacturers and distributors in Germany, including manufacturers of paint, chemicals, cosmetics, and plastics. It appears that Aptean is making a major play for the manufacturing market in Germany, following their continued expansion in recent months to become a globally established ERP.
