Hi and welcome to episode 34 of The ERP Minute. I am your host, Rebekah McCabe.
Oracle and the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants announced last week that they intend to host an introductory certification series to address the technology skills gap in finance and accounting. This series is designed to equip financial leaders with practical knowledge required to embrace the latest finance technology, processes, best practices, and skills to help them succeed in changing business environments and accelerate their careers.
It is encouraging to see companies like Oracle taking on more responsibility to ensure that future generations have the resources to succeed. This partnership will provide leaders with the support needed to support their organization’s finance transformation ambitions while fostering technological skills in employees.
Acumatica recently named CJ Boguszweski as Vice President of Partner Strategy & Programs. In this role, Boguszweski will be responsible for Acumatica’s partner go-to-market strategy.
Acumatica has experienced significant change so far in 2022 with the appointment of new executives. As they drive that change, we are interested to see the trajectory of the company, as growth appears to be constant for the rapidly expanding business, as more small businesses enter the ERP market.
In other news, Deltek has created The Deltek Scholars Program to fund George Mason University Computer Science graduates. The donation will provide scholarship support beginning in Fall 2022 to as many as eight graduate students pursuing their master’s degrees in software engineering.
This is fantastic to see as Deltek appears to have a grasp on the need for talent in The Enterprise Resource Planning industry. With so many businesses moving from on-Prem to the cloud, the need for talent to create and implement the software is greater than ever before. Investing in people who could advance the market is a strong move and we hope to see other software vendors make similar donations.
IFS announced the release of its first of two updates to IFS CloudTM in 2022. At the center of this release, IFS Cloud enables a fast-tracked adoption of digital capabilities to achieve higher levels of productivity, business agility, and operational excellence. They will accomplish this through the inclusion of pre-built content with advanced analytics reports that can be tailored, extended asset performance prediction, simplification of employee development and training processes, and more.
The trend of ERP systems is moving towards ease of use, including customizations. IFS is working towards making reporting easier to deliver through consistency and tailoring, through which users will be able to enhance their business process outcomes. As mentioned in a previous episode, the ERP wars are going to be won through user experience, pushing many ERP vendors to innovate for the customer.
Related, QAD Inc. has released its latest enhancements to QAD Adaptive ERP, along with other QAD applications. These enhancements deliver enhanced digital commerce and serialization capabilities through the extension of QAD’s current track and trace capabilities, end-to-end from inbound receiving to production and outbound shipping, and more.
ERP vendors across the industry are following this trend to supply unique offerings to their customer base. Like IFS, QAD wants to ensure ease of use for clients and continued innovation. This innovation will allow for the continued growth of QAD.
Finally, Gartner has forecasted that Worldwide IT spending is going to reach $4.4 trillion in 2022, an increase of 4% from 2021, as CIOs recognize the importance of flexibility and agility in responding to disruptions.
Business technology is the cornerstone for advancement as we continue to live in the digital age. Consumers always desire bigger and better options, but the only way for that innovation to continue is by investing more in the technology that companies use to run their businesses.
