Hi and welcome to episode 39 of The ERP Minute. I am your host, Rebekah McCabe.
Last week, CRN announced their “The Most Powerful Women of the Channel 2022: Power 100” list. This list spotlights the female executives at vendors and distributors whose technology expertise, vision, advocacy, and mentorship are helping drive the tech channel and are deserving of recognition.
Congratulations to all the women honored! Acknowledgements such as this are encouraging to see, as they facilitate the growth and appreciation of women in the industry. When able, businesses should be making strides towards these programs and encourage women to becomes leaders in the technology workplace.
Nextworld recently released an article advocating to end the war over “Shadow IT.”. “Shadow IT” refers to any device or software used in a business that the central technology department does not sanction.
Application development platforms like Nextworld can help reduce this disruption by empowering IT to certify the platform, which can then be used to develop applications across the entire organization, thus protecting enterprise data and assuring IT compliance. We expect many IT departments to move to similar solutions in the future.
In other news, Infor has assisted a new client DBK David + Baader GmbH to move to the cloud after the company fell victim to a cyberattack that abruptly knocked out the company’s existing on-premises systems last year.
Moving ERP to the cloud is a sound strategy for mitigating security risks in the future, but it must be done in a certain way to ensure that overall enterprise data stays secure. If this is a topic you need a more in-depth understanding of, attend EAG’s free CPE webinar on June 2nd, A Definitive Guide to ERP Deployment.
