Hi and welcome to episode 88 of The ERP Minute. I am your host, Rebekah McCabe.
Last week, ERP Advisors Group had the pleasure of attending the 2023 Epicor Insights Conference in Las Vegas, which focused on “turning insight into action.” Epicor’s CEO, Steve Murphy, summarized the event, stating, “To be successful in today’s marketplace, Makers, Movers, and Sellers must make data-driven decisions faster and with greater accuracy. It’s all about the right insights, in the right place, at the right time.”
At the conference, we were able to see the advancements from Epicor firsthand and gain a deeper understanding of their “Data Supply Chain” approach. The focus of the event centered around Grow, predictive analytics powered by ChatGPT, supplier integration across industry ecosystems, and people-centric automation and experiences. Epicor Grow is the company’s full-stack BI platform that combines data integration, warehousing, and visualization into an easy-to-use solution. Grow was at the center of Epicor’s “Data Supply Chain”. In tandem with OpenAI, Epicor will also offer Epicor Virtual Agent (EVA) for predictive analytics and contextual recommendations.
Through these innovations, Epicor will be able to offer greater value to Epicor users in the near future. We admire Epicor’s commitment to continuing to acquire and integrate various solutions to enhance its offerings within the manufacturing and distribution spaces, where technology continues to drastically change the landscape.
Related, SAP also hosted their conference in Orlando last week, SAP Sapphire in 2023. SAP made announcements across Business AI, the Green Ledger, and business-ready innovations.
First, SAP made major AI-related announcements, unveiling a partnership with Microsoft. The companies will collaborate on integrating SAP SuccessFactors solutions with Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot in Viva Learning, as well as with Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI Service to access power language models that analyze and generate natural language. Then, SAP announced its move toward a Green Ledger, aiming to reinvent the “R” in ERP by extending the definition of resources to include carbon. As a result, SAP also announced an update to the SAP Sustainability Footprint Management solution, a single solution that calculates and manages the full range of corporate, value chain, and product-level emissions, and the SAP Sustainability Data Exchange application, a new solution for enterprises to securely exchange standardized sustainability data with partners. Finally, SAP announced a host of innovations across the rest of its portfolio. For example, drawing on the success of SAP Business Network, a comprehensive B2B collaboration platform where some $4.5 trillion of trade is conducted annually, SAP announced SAP Business Network for Industry.
These major advancements from SAP will make a real difference for businesses, especially those across the consumer products, high-tech, industrial manufacturing, and life sciences industries.
